How to make custom wall decals

You don’t have to spend money on specialists every time you want to give a room a personal touch without making any permanent alteration. You can design simple things like tree wall stickers or tree wall decals by yourself.

The first step in coming up with custom wall decals is choosing the contact paper. Other than the clear contact paper that most people are familiar with, there are other various types of papers. These come in various colors shapes and qualities. Choose one that suits you depending on your scheme of decoration.

After selection do a patch test to ensure that the contact paper won’t leave an irritating patch when you remove it from where it will be stuck. This should be done in a place that is not very conspicuous, hence using a wall mural would not be appropriate here. Stick a small piece of the paper on the place then leave it there for about a day. Check to see whether it leaves marks when you remove them.

The next step will be to design the images. You do the designs on a piece of paper then you use the papers as your templates for your wall decal. Take into account the number of designs and colors you want to employ. Once you are through trace the stencils onto the back of the contact paper and turning them into wall decals by cutting them out with a pair of scissors or a craft knife.
